GENTLEMEN— l beg to report that during the pas month I have made an inspection of the premises attached to dwellings etc in tne Borough, and with very few excep turns found them clean and in a healthy condition, much more so than on former occasions. In a few instances whore nuisances, dangerous to health existed, I have had them removed and the premises put in a sanatory condition. The strong dry winds which have prevailed during the past few months have tended in a great measure to lessen the evil arising from decaying vegetation in the numerous watercourses in the town, by drying up the water which stagnates in them every summer, I am informed that for some months past two or three persons are exercising the calling of nightmen, and as only one of these has a proper vehicle for the removal of the night soil, it may be inferred that the others do not carry it to any great distance, but probably bury it near the centre of the town where it may give offence or become dangerous. To prevent this happening I would suggest that all nightmen be licensed by the Council. In conclusion I may, state that I am of opinion that the Borough, was never, at the present season of the year in a more sanatory condition.— l am, etc. G. C. HILL, Inspector of Nuisances. From G. C.
