LOAN FOE NO. 6 WAED TiOST. LOAN FOR NO. 5 WABD CAEEIED. On Saturday last a poll of the ratepayers of No. 6 Ward was taken with: regard to the proposed loan of £3500 for roadmaking purposes, but it was lost by 21 votes. In No.: 6 ward there are 177 voters, representing 203 votes, of whom 80 recorded their votes, the numbers at the close of the poll being 82 in favor of the loan aad 7 against, the number required to carry the loan being 103. A meeting of ratepayers will be held on ; Thursday evening next, at 8 o'clock, to : consider what steps shall be taken to try for a new loan, leaving out the Watershed road, Head's Line, and the Valley road, j which would reduce the amount required by some £2200. The poll of ratepayers taken in No 5. Ward yesterday, for a loan of £4000, was carried by a large majority, but the figures have not yet come to hand. ■'■.--, r
