Manchester Road Board
The loan proposals of the Manchester Road Board for Nos. 5 and 6 wards have .'become . more acceptable • to the ratepayers especially interested. I At a meeting held at.Ashurst of rate- ! parersin No. 6 ward, a resolution was j carried unanimously in favor of. .the .„ proposals, and pledging those present ! to support the scheme by every means in their power. If we accept the tone which prevailed: at the meetings held of ratepayers in the two wards, as aoy indication of the probabl result on the , days of polling, the loan proposals may be, considered as carried. • The Chairman of the- Board, Mr Lethbridge, has done much to remove the want pf ; confidence; evinced by many residents in No. -5 ward, by the cleartie.Bß, and courtesy; of His replies to questions bearing on the .mode of expepditnre of the loan money, and the assurance that i£s : control will be superintended .by<,.th'e whole Board, instead/ of being entrusted. to one man.
