A Costly Accident
" Dagonet," in the London Referee tells the following storjf of the failure of the Greenways' bank: — "A Birmingham man, who had made a considerable sum of money in the town, . sold his business foj cash and left the . money in a Birihinghani bank fbr some time. After a while he thought' he would buy a business in Warwick. He looked about, found what he wanted, and ail the preliminaries being arranged, he set out on a cer- | taiu day to complete the purchase. He drew his money from the Birmin-. gham bank— £s,Boo — and went to Warwick on the day oh which he was i to pay that sum over to the agent of i the Warwick business. Owing to an accident he arrived late, and the agent had gone. Not wishing to carry ' £5,800 in cash about with him, he saw Greenaways' bank, went in, and deposited it, intending to draw it out - and complete bis purchase, on the following morning. On the -following morning at ten o'clock he did Qol, but the shutters were up, |the bank had failed, d ahd now he sits among the disconsolate creditors • and wonders how much in the pound he is going to get.
