Information has been received that i , Mir Walker, who had been a settler al Mallioolo Island, went to Pentecost Island r labor recruiting, when the Natives eni tioed him _ anhore . and he fell into as ' ambush. The Natives opened fire and, he was wounded with rifle shot, and then being set upon he was killed with axes, j A Malhcolo Native who acoompanied him was also killed, but three others escaped j into the bush. Those on the ketch saw the murder perpetrated, but were powerless to prevent it. Several murders ar< known to have been committed at th< same spot. '
