NOTICE is hereby given that a Poll of the Burgesses of the Borough will be taken on FRIDAY, the 6th day of January, 1888, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., at the Borough Office, Manchester street, for or against the following proposal of the Feilding Borough Council : — (1.) That a Loan of £2000 be raised for the construction of the following works, viz., — For protecting the banks and improving the flow of the watev in the Makino stream £500 For repairing and re-instatmg where necessary, the following bridges, with requisite protection works, viz., — The Kiwitea Bridge, and the Bridges m North street, Derby street, Soutb street, Denbigh street, Warwick street, and Beattie street ; Also, for making a drain along Marlborough street, and widening the Culverts in the Kimbolton road, near Chamberlain's Mill, and opposite Lytton street ... £1500 Total £2000 -(2.) Forming and Metalling Spur road from Taonui road to Oroua River. Forming and Metalling Reid's line from ,Taonui road to boundary of No, 5 Ward. Half cost of Forming and Mt-talling FeildingBunnythorpe road, from Oroua River to Bunnythorpe. Metalling Stoney Creek road from Bunnythorpe to end of Formation. Forming and Metalling Bunnythorpe road from end of metal to boundary of No. 5 Ward, and half cost of Traffic Bridge at Aorangi over Oroua luver. Total Cost, £4,000. For the anmial repayment of principal and interest it is proposed to levy a Special Rate of five-eights of a penny in the £ on the whole of the rateable value of the property within No. 5 Ward. A meeting of Ratepayers to discuss the proposals will be held at the School-house, Taonui, opposite Messrs Bailey Bros.'
