London, November 28 The evidence adduced against Callan and Harkins proved the po 83*sion of dynamite by the prisoners, the existence of a very serious dynamite plot, and showed further that the prisoners were , connected with the Clan na-Gael conspir- i acv. Mr 0. 0. Lacaita, MR for Dundee, has resigned his seat in the House of Commons explaining that he can no longer give support to Mr Gladstone. The death is announced of Ridley, the ' inventor of reaping machines. It had been intended to hold a meeting at Limerick in honor of the Manchester martyrs, but the authorities " proclaimed" i the meeting. A not ensued and the mob stoned the barracks. Two hundred of the police repeatedly charged the crowd,and 18 of the rioters received rather severe injuries. A meeting called for a similar purpose was successfully held at Dublin, and was attended by 12,600 people. Mr Davitt savagely attacked the Government for their treatment of Ireland. The Fenians in the South of Ireland are becoming active. It is expected that M. de Freycinet will be elected President of France in place of M. Gre*vy. The Sugar Bounties Conference will probably favor the abolition of bounties on a sliding scale extending over a period of ten years. The latest information received from Major Bartlelot, who accompanied the Stanley expedition, reports that the news received from Mr Stanley is satisfactory. The Communists are holding menacing meetings in different parts of France. Three hundred and forty colliers were entombed in a mine at Aberdare, County Glamorgan, Wales. Two hundred have as yet been rescued, and it is believed that the remainder of the men are still alive and will also be rescued. The Czar has forwarded to Prince Bismarck copies of the forged despatches which were sent to him in order to cause him to believe that Germany was antagonistic to Russia's action in Bulgaria. Lord Lyons is suffering from paralysis. The supporters of ,M.M. Ferry and de Freycinet threaten a rising if they are defeated. Baron Hirsk has given two million Jounds for the foundation of schools for ews in Russia. November 29. The Cologne Gazette states that England approves and co-operates with the central alliance between Germany, Austria, and Italy. H.M.S. Thalia, which has sailed for Australia with relief crew 9 for the Australian Squadron, will call at the Crozet Islands to ascertain if there are any wrecked mariners. Mr John Henry Smith has left Lord Canngton twenty thousand pounds*. Mr Taylor, of Prahran, Victoria, has given a thousand pounds to found a college for Calvinistio Methodists, in Wales. The remainder of the minere entombed in a mine in Aberdare, Glamorganshire, have been rescued.
