Wesleyan Home Missionary Meeting

The Missionary meeting held in the Wesleyan Church on Tuesday night, was not so well attended as we have seen it on previous similar occasions. The Rev. T. N. Griffin, superintendent of the circuit, occupied the chair. The ' Bev. T. Hammond, formerly minister j of the Feilding circuit, the first clergy- j man who ever preached in the settle- I ment, gave a very graphic description j of missionary work among the Maoris ' from the time of Robert Marsden to , the present day. The Rev. E. '' kins, chairman of the Wanganui dis- [ trict, delivered one of his usual interesting, amusing and instructive ad- , dresses from a Pakeha point of view.* ■ He explained the Home Mission fund was not only for work among the natives, but to help districts whieh were poor and struggling, also to support the Wesleyan College at the Three Kings, Auckland. Mrs A. Eade presided at the Harmonium.
