WIFE DESERTED Iff THE COURT.

When O'Brien, who has iust been brought back from Sydney, on charge of wife desertion, appeared before the court to-day, he created quite a scene by bringing various charges in a most excited manner against the magistrate, Mr Wardell Upon the latter asking whether his wife was present, O'Brien explained that he (Wardell) probably knew best where she was. The Magistrate ordered the case to stand over till Hie counsel for Mrs O'Brien returned from Wanganui and it will probably go on this afternoon. Wanganui, This Day; : At the Hospital Board meeting yesterday a motion was passed instructing the Secretary to write to the members for Wanganui, Waitotara, and Eangitikei to oppose Mr Macarthur's Hospital Bill to deride the Wanganui district. Supreme Court business finished this morning. Judge Frendergast left for Wellington at middaj. Woodvillb, This Day. William Addie was killed, while bushfelling at Pahaitua, yesterday. He was a married man with wife and family in Canterbury.
