East, and West^^ ; lndiies,,7a^dpis characterised as a very severe iniflammatory ifever, accompanied with, rheumatic pains in the joints and muscles, and a cutaneous eruption that usually makes its appearance" upon ' the third or fourth da^/ 'Though very severe, it is not of ten fatal, and ustially t'erf minates hi a few, days with a copious discharge . of -perspiration. /It is re-: garded as scarlatina, combined with severe rheumatic pains in the limbs and joints; It . demands no special treatment beyond opiates to relieve the pain, and purgatives, or an emetic, to subdue the fever. - : - ■• • • - We learn that there- are several cases of "the dandy fever" in Feilding and in Palmerston.
