Dunedin, Septem ber. 29. - Three young men; named reap ectively David' Goldsmith, Daniel Hamilton, and Andrew 1 Craig, have been arrested -and charged with- indecently : assaulting a servant girl named: M argaret Wilson : in the Cricket Ground, at a quarter to 8 on Tuesday evening last. Accused were brought before the City Police Court this afternoon,, when they were remanded bail being allowed in jBIOO each and two sureties of Lso| '. September 30.
At the -Gity Court to-day Goldsmith Hamilton, and Craig were committed for trial' on the charge of indecently assaulting Margaret Wilson. The prosecutrix admitted that she had been improperly intimate with one of the. prisoners before. New Pltmouth, Sept. 30. Several persons having refused to pay the New . Pi j mouth harbor rate, they have been summoned, and several combined together to try a case in Court, which, was heard on Wednesday. The Eesident Magistrate cave judgment this morning m favor of the Harbor Board, stating he had no doubt the rate had been properly struck. ; Wellington, Sept 30.
Whilst the schooner Christina was off Para Bay, Whahgarei, on Tuesday, m the midst of a storm, a large ball of fire 'rushed past the Vessel burying itself in the water just ahead of her. A. strong smell of sulphur was perceptible.
