( PER UNITED PRKSS \SSOCIArIOV.) Wellington, This Day. In the Supreme Court this morning a case was tried of considerable importance., This was Staples v. Joseph and others, .owners of the steamer Tui a claim of £26 for the value of goods lost when the steamer was wrecked at the Wellington Heads in November last. There are other claims and this is a test case. It is the first instance of the kind in New Zealand where the responsibility has been sought to be fixed oh owners. After taking the evidence of experts in navigation, the Court decided in favor of the plaintiff for the. full amount, on the ground that negligent navigation led to the logs of the vessel.
