Russia and Afghanistan

The St. Petersburg Gazette of May the 3rd says :— M The British and* Rusoian Afghan frontier delegates hare refused t» make concessions on either - side, and maintain a harsh nonpossimus attitude towards each other. The Vienna correspondent of ~'WrtL Times, writing on April 15, says c-^ " M. Arminiup Varakery writse to me: * The Central Asian question is daily increasing in importance. The news which I get from Meshen, Sarameand, and St. Petersburg unmistakably prores that Bussia is active, and I am afraid that the meeting of the two Commissions on the Nera will nofc prevent Russia's secret aggression on the west of Afghanistan.
