Legislation for Ireland

By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. (keutee's temweams.) Lokdliv. March 31. At the Unionist-Liberal banquet in liondon last night, the Marquis of Harrington delivered a speech in which he declared Mr Gladstone's support of Parnell had further divided the Liberal party round the table. f£he conference had, he stated, been without result, and had been adj ourned for an indefinate period. The Union-ist-Liberals would continue to support the Government while they up-held the law in Ireland. - Lord Hartingham is considerably alarmed at the discontent expressed wth the Coercion Bill. A meeting of the Unionist party has been called for Thursday to fully discuss the situation. The Liberal caucus meet on Wednesday. The Parnellites ridicule the idea of the Government attempting to pass the Crimes Bill before Whitsuntide. To think of passing it before Easter they say is to hope for the impossible especially as Mr Gladstone has apfc proved of the plan for opposing it by r legitimate means. Anti-coercion dcx inoiistrations have been arranged, ' fiimilar to those held at the time of the Bulgarian atrocities. Mr Gladstone, in the House of Commons last night, said there was nothing in the condition of the country to justify the increased stringency of the Crimes Bill, which would brand the Irish with the stigma of inferiority. The Tory and Unionist Press take exception to the provision in the Crimea Bill for the transfer of trials to England, which it is now thought Government will not seriously endeavour to obtain.
