Fire at Wellington

Shortly before 8 o'clock last uight the Brandon street firebell rang out an alarm of fire, and it was very soon ascertained that the upper portion of the New Zealand Insurance Company's building, on the corner of Lambton quay and Grey street, was on fire. Mr Simpson estimates the dam ge done to his office at £500. The following is a list of the insurances : — North British, LSOO ; South British, L500 ; Colonial, L500 ; London and Globe, LSOO ; Norwich Union, L750 ; Imperial, L750; total, L3,500.— Today's N. Z.
