Manchester Road Board
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs Lethbridge (chairman), Macarthur, Linton, and Cotter. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and onfiroiecfc ■-. CORRESPONDENCE. * From B. K. Heed, ire expenses in attending Licensing Committee meeting at Ashhurst, stating said expenses were for " lobs of time and general inconvenience to which we are subjected," and tendering his resignation as a member of the Licensing Committee. . V,' From H. Cotter, offering the sum of- £2 1W f or the right to traffic over the Otangaki Bridge during the pleasure of the Board/ for dwellers at Siberia. \ , From Rangitikei County Council, informing the Board that the flooring of the Onepuhi Bridge is giving way, and proposiugfthat the Board sanction the Council to cross plank the present flooring with 3 inch totara planking. (This letter was held over to receive report ef the Engineer.) ". From the Kiwitea Road Board, re petition of settlers on the Ashhurstrohangina road with reference to the state of said road from junction of the Spur road to the boundary of the Harbor Board Block, said to be impassible in winter. ■ ; f ' ; From W. Fisher and other settlers at Ashhurst, asking to have a reduction made in the tolls on Manawatu Bridge in their favor. From A. Grammar, applying for the same, also for renewal of his slaughter license. . . - From Public Works Department, re timber said to be felled by contractors of Gorge Railway into the Manawatu river. . ; ;. :. : .. : .-:' ••■■■• ■ From Treasury Department,* remit- 1 ing £ lender Dog Registration Act. ' Proposed by Mr Macarthur, secended by Mr Linton, That in reply to the Kiwitea Road-Board, this Board will agree to do* an equivalent amount of work in value in thtvt Board's, district where the Board pleased, twelve months after they metal the Pohangina road within the Manchester Board's boundary, and this Board reoommends this road to be cleared and the ditches cleaned put this season, and the metalling Proceeded with early next season. — Carried. •' Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Linton, That Mr Cotter's offer to pay. £2 10s per year as a compensation for his tolls over the Otangaki Bridge, be accepted by the Board, — Carried. Proposed by Mr Cetter, seconded by Mr Linton, That the ratepayers of No 6 Ward working in the Gorge and going to their work on horseback, be allowed to go through the toll gate for the sum of 2s 6d per week paid in advance. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That a slaughtering license be granted to Mr Grammer for the year 1887. — Carried. Aeccmutß amounting to £148 15s 6d was passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
