ANNUAL TREAT AND PEESENTATION OP PRICES.
The annual treat to the pupils at- i tending the State School fooj^place ' in the school grounds yesterday. It is needless to say that the attendance was very large, and at one time the roll-call of each class in the school was fully represented, with, we should think, some additional outsiders. "Buns; cake, and tea," still possess their wonted] attraction for the little folks." During the afternoon Mr Dowling. (head teacher), Mr Jenkins (Assistant teacher), and the lady teachers of the school were ably assisted by Mr Watts (chairman), and • other members of the School Coni- j mittee in presiding over the games the children were indulged in. Various pastimes and amusements were provided, into which the little. ones entered with glee and zest. At the conclusion of the games the work of ?' feasting" began, the children being seated in oiroies in the school grounds. A most sumptuous spread , was vided, and teachers, cpmmitteemen, and a number of ladies, were kept busily employed in supplying the wants of the pupils. It fs hardly necessary to observe that ,' ' none . went empty away. 7 Further "games were indulged in, and,, at 6 o'clock the children separated;- to meet again at the Town .Hall at 7.30, to witness and receive the annual prizes. The HaH was crowded with pupils, parents, and a large number of the public. His Worship the Mayor, Mr S. Goodben -fore, presided. On the platform were .
