[PEB UNITED PBEBB ASSOCIATION.] ; CHBißrcHtmcH. Februarj 28. ; The weather has cleared up, and it remains bright, with a southerly wind. The range appears to be a good one, with the exception that the shooting is slightly uphill. The competitors, numbering 306, paraded at 9.30, and at 10.20 firing commenced with the Wellington Match, 200 and 500 yards, seven shots at each range. The follo.wing are the first six prize-takers — Corporal Hutchison, Dunedin, £10, 56; Corporal McKenzie, Wellington, £7, 55 ; Gunner Lumsden, Auckland, £6, 55 ; Corporal Lee, Auckland, £5, 55 ; Private Simpson, Kaitangata, £5, 54 ; Lieutenant Hogg, Clutha, £4, 54 ; Sergeant Kuchen, Wellington, £4, 53; Corporal Williams, Napier, £3/53; Captain Lucas, Thames, £3, 53 ; Lieutenant Flyger, Wanganui, £3, 52. The Hawke'g Bay Match, 200 and 50« yards, 10 shots at each range ; all comers, and. counting for both belts, was commenced at 6 o'clock, but only a few mea had fired when shooting ceased f or the day.
This D iv. The Hawke's Bay Match is proceeding. At first range, 200 yards, Hogg, of Clutha, made a good score — 46 out of 50, and Hughes, Wan^anui, 45.
