Ram and Ewe Fair

The first Rani and Ewe Fair under the auspices of the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Palmerston yesterday. Despite the great heat prevailing there was a good attendance of breeders and others interested. The proceedings were arranged so that alternaee sales were held by Messrs F. E. Jackson and Stevens and Gorton, amongst whom the lots were pretty well divided. The ewes found no buyers, but the rams were mostly disposed of, "Mr E. Cobb was the most successful vendor, the prices obtained being higher than those of any others. The" top price so far was 7£ guineas for a two-tooth ram by Shadrach, and another by the same ram fetched 7 guineas. The average price obtained was about 4£ guineas. Mr Wheeler's sheep also sold well, the average obtained being about 2£ guineas. Breeders are apparently well satisfied with the res' It, and predict that the fairs will prove i a great success in future. The prices obtained compare very well with j those at the Hawke's Bay fair last week. Tmes [Mr Boiis>n, of Feildiug, brought a couple of truulc loads Eoniney's back with him by train,] I' PEE UNITED PU ESS ASSOCIATION.. Falmikston iS'oKTH, This Day. At the Earn and Ewe Fair yesterday the highest price realised for iiomuey Marsh rams was 8A- guineas by Mr Cobb, of Foxton, whose wellknown ram Jumbo, was passed in at 60 guineas.
