The Catholic Concert

I The concert held in the Public Hall last evening was notrsuch a success as it might have been had it been properly "billed," aud otherwise made known. As it was there was only a moderate yet appreciative audieuce. The various performers acquitted themselves on the whole very well indeed, and several of them would'havehad to re-appear had it not been distinctly understood that there were to be no encores. Amongst those who distinguished themselves were Herr and Miss Nor berg, Miss Grace, an»l Messrs Heally, Haybittle, Readinjr, and one or two others, whose names we did not obtain. The Rev. Father Patterson gained much applause for his original piano solo, it being evident there was nothing in the instrument whinhhe did not bring out of it. At the close that gentleman came for- - ward, and in a very neat speech he heartily thanked the performers for their kind services, remarking that their generosity was the greater as for the most 'part -they: were notinden. tified with the; Cathib.ie Church. He also thanked the audience for their attendance. We should mention Miss Boy lan did . hqr, part admirably as pianist. The Volunteer Band, by permission of Captain Mnearthur, played outside the Hall previous to the performance.
