Military Fete
On Tuesday next the good people of Feilding will have an opportunity of witnessing a grand military display, for there will be assembled here; the 1 Marton Royal Rifles, the Palmerstim , and Manchester Rifles, and the Eaugitikei Cavalry Volunteers The object of the review will be the annual inspection by Lieutenant-General Sir George Whitmore. The Palmerston Rifles will arrive by the morning train, and the Cavalry and Marton Rides by the noon train from the North. The officers of the several corps will be entertained by Captain Macarthur, of the Manchester Rifles, and the noncommissioned officers aud men will be provided with luncheon, which will be laid in the Public Hall. The several corps will then be marched to the I racecourse — which has tmdly been placed at their disposal by Mr Lethbridge — where they will perform the j customary military evolutions. We ! expect there will be about 150 Rifloj men and 60 or 70 Cavalry on the ground, and as there is plenty of room for the latter to manoeuvre, the display should prove interesting to the spectators as well as those actually engaged.
