AWAHURI HACK RACES.
The annual hack race meeting at Awahuri on Tuesday was a great success, and the Committee have to congratulate themselves on the result. The attendance was very good, there being about 700 present, including visitors from Palmerston and Feilding; and £862, or nearly double the amount of last year, was put through the machine, which was in the hands !of Mr 8. Abrahams. Mr McLenaghan, of the Awahuri Hotel, had the publican's booth, and Mr Summers, of Feilding, the refreshment booth, the other privilege the gates, having been retained by the club. Music was supplied by the Feilding Brass Band. The officers, who comprised the following, worked hard to make the, thing a success, and they were well rewarded : — Judge, Mr IL Cameron; starter, Mr R. Druryj stewards, Messrs McDonald, Cribo, Lawton, Drury, Cameron, Jackman, and McLenaghan. A special word of praise is due to the courteous and efficient hon. secretary, Mr McMillan, who -worked very hard throughout. The following are the results :-— 1.
