Manchester Rifles

By a notice which appears to-day the Mauchester Rifles are directed to parade for inspection on Friday the 7th of January, 1 887. In this connection, aud for the iaformatiou of the members of the corps, we quote the following from the Voiuuteer Rules and Regulations, published in the Government Gazette ou the 16th inst., which will come into force on the lat of January : — Clause 121. The strictest punctuality is to be observed by all ranks in attending parades and other duties ; and no man is to fall in after his corps has been formed, except by special permission of the senior officer present on parade. Clause 122. No officer or volunteer arriving on the parade ground after a parade has been formed up, shall be entitled to a record of attendance for efficiency or capitation. Clause 124. The senior officer present at any open air parade, will exercise his discretion as to the continuance or otherwise of the parade on account of the inclemency of the weather. From clause 121 it will be seen that the habit of arriving late on the ; ground, which has been only too prevalent in the past, will have to be abandoned entirely, and clause 124 deprives some of the men of an imaginary right to decide whether the weather is fine enough to attend parade or not. Under the present regulations that light is reserved to the officer ia command. In all capes where the parade is "under cover" P attendance is compulsory.
