Invkrcakgill, December 22. A boy named David Morton, aged 10 years, hanged himself at Qtautau. It appear* that a Mrs Dobbs. having occasion to go out to the clothes line, left her baby on the floor. She had hardly gone ten yards from the door when she was alarmed at hearing the child screaming, and on hastening back to the room a horrible sight presented itself. A ferret belonging to Mr Dobbs having escaped from its cage, had attacked the child, ihe brute was tears ing with its teeth and claws at the right eye »f the infant, whose face was streaming with blood.
