THE MARKETS.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., report: — We hare no alterations m values to notice since our last report. Store cattle fiud purchasers af. last quota* tions. Sheep are dull of sale, in consequence of the low prices ruling for fat stock of this description. At St HilU ( street the yards were quite full of cattle j but some pens were turned out unsold. The bulk of the entries sold at current rates. Sheep were in limited numbers. Pigs were fairly well competed for, but at no belter values. On Saturday horses solJ at low rates, but poultry met good competition. At our Feilding yards we sold nearly all that came forward in the shape of store cattle ; sheep were nil re« served too high. We also sold two lines of horses, in all about 45 head. We need hardly say the prices were in favour of the purchasers. Cattle.— At St Hill street: 3-year-old steers, L 3 14s ; 1 and 2«year»old steers. L 2 7s 6d • cows and calves, L 2 19s ; •mpty cows, L 2 10s to L 2 15s ; heifers, LI iOs ; springing cows, L 2; mixed yearlings, 28s. At Feilding: 3 -year-old bulUcks, L 3 to L 3 12s 6d; 2-year-old bullocks, L 2 7s 6d ; cows, L 2 and L 2 10s ; yearlings, up to 30s each. Sheep. — At Wanganui : Best fat wethers 7s 6d and 8* ; ewes, 6s 6d ; ewes and lambs, in wool, 12s the couple At Feildiag : Fat wethers, 7s ; ewes, 6s ; thin wetherx, 4s 9d. Horses. — At Feilding: Unbroken light horses made from 15 s t« 60s each ; unbroken draughts, light. L 9 to LI I. At Wanganui: good hacks up to L 10; ordinary, L 2 10s to L 6. Pigs. — Large porkers, 10s, to 25s 6d each ; smaller fat pigs, 14s ; no stores in the market. Poultry.— Turkeys, 10s to 15s the couple ; ducks, 3a 6d to 3s 9d ; fowls, 2s 6d and 3s 3d.
