AUCKLAND v. AUSTRALIA.
[per united press assciation j Auckland, December 6 The match between Auckland and the representative Australian Eleven commenced on the Domain ground today. The weather was Bj)lendid. The attendance was only moderate. The Australians arrived by the Mararoa at 8 o'clock. Several members of the Cricket Association met the team and welcomed them to the city. The team were all in good health with the exception of Giffen, who is still indisposed, and Blackham, who has a bad finger, which he had hurt in the Canterbury match. On reaching the ground the wicket was found to be in a splendid condition. Garrett won the toss from Robinson, and elected to take the wickets. The local bowling was good, and the visitors were- careful in their batting. The fielding of the local men was splendid. The Australians scored 104 in their first innings. Auckland then went in and scored 63 for 8 wickets — Lj'nch not out, 19. He and Arneil made the best stand. The visitors being a man short had Moresby to field as substitute. Their fielding was almost perfect. The umpires were Mr J. M. Blaokham for Australia, and Mr J. Mumford for Auckland.
