The lecture by Miss O' Gorman, the "Escaped Nun," was given at Lismore, and passed off quietly, fcix hundred persons were present, and there were about 1200 ia the street, but the majority were Protestants, as the Roman Catholics, influenced by the Cardinal's request, kept away. There was a strong police force in the town. Special constables were sworn in, and the public houses were closed by order of the Police Magistrate. Cardinal Moran had specially written to the Roman Catholics, asking them to take, no notice of the lecture for his sake.
