Manchester Road Board

A meeting of the above Board wa 8 held on aturday last. Present — Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge (chairman), Macarthur, Linton, and Pryce-Jones. A deputation from Ashhurst No. 6 Ward, waited on the Board on the • subject of the toll over the Otangaki Bridge. The Board received the deputation. Mr Cotter acted as spokes---'---man, and applied for all tolls collected on the bridge to be placed to a separate banking account. The Board refused this request, jib .. such an act would be illegal, but agreed to allow all revenue collected, after deducting expenses, td be placed to the credit of No. 6 Ward. Proposed by Mr Pryce- Jones, seconded by Mr Linton, That P, Hanlon be permitted to put a culvert across the road, and form and metal three chafbs of the swamp on the road leading to his property, on condition that he waits 12 months for the money.-— Carried.

That H. Henaghan be informed that if he will put in the culverts referred to in his letter at the engineer's estimate, and wait 12 months for the money, the Board will consent. — Carried.

Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Linton,. That the.Engineer be instructed to get the work done referred to in Mr Flynh's letter, the cost not to exceed £12.

Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded, by Mr Linton, That the engineer be instructed to expend not exceeding £5 on Jones' road in clearing scrub— -Carried. Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the Collector be instructed to take proceedings to. recover all overdue rates. — Carried.

Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, seconded by Mr Macarthur, That the offer from the Feilding Borough Council be accepted, this Board to refund half the mouey within eighteen months from date. — Carried.

Accounts were passed, for payment amounting to £546 19s, and the meeting adjourned.
