A public meeting was held last evening to consider the question of celebrating the opening of the Weliington-Manawatu Railway Company's line on the 15th, inst. It was agreed, after discusnie , o hold a demonstration on the oeeasi u, but the form it will take was net decided upon, though it was thought desirable gener* ally thai it should be in the shape of a banquet in Palmerston to the Directors of the company. ' A meeting to consider the details will be held on Thursday evening.
