Wellington Manawatu Railway
LAYING OF THE LAST BAIL fPBB UNITED FBKSB ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, October 22. The last of the rails on the Manawatu railway will be laid this evening and although several days more will be occupied in ballasting, . direct railway communication with New Plymouth will then be established. Tl • ceremony of driving the last spike will be done with special festivities. For goods and stock the railway will be opened throughout next week, and for passengers on the Prince of Wales Birthday. Arrangements are being: made so that passengers will be enabled to reach Napier in 13 hours after leaving Wellington.
