The Midland Railway

[PKB UNITED PHKSS ASSOCIATION.] , Christchuhch, October 21. At the banquet to Mr Allen Scott, the Midland railway delegate, tonight, 150 were present. The meeting was a thoroughly representative gathering, the Mayor in the ohair. *Mr Scott's health was enthusiastically drunk, and in responding he paid a tribute, to Messrs Sclanders, Fell, and Dobson, for the assistance rendered to him in London, also to the Government for the manner they had befriended the scheme. The company had no intention of locking up the land they received, but wished to settle sriiall capitalists on it. They would not import labor, but expected a fair daj 's work for a fair day's pay. Work would probably be begun at Belgrove and Springfield in six months.
