Kiwitea Road Board
Tlie ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at the Board's offices, Feilding, en Saturday last. Present— Messrs Taylor (chairman), Bruce, Williamson, and Brown. The minutes of the previous meeting: were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read : — ' . From Messrs Pollock, Baker, and other settlers in the Wangauui Harbor Board Block, asking the Board to clear a road line fronting sections Nog. 's, 6,. and 7. From H. Broderick -and P, Henaghan, re trees fallen from section 27 across the road line in- the Harbor Board Block. . From Thomas Sinclair and other settlers on the Pohangina road, asking the Board to metal some 29 chains of formation done last year. ' . .; * From L.. J. Dufling, asking the Board to make a track to his section in the Harbor Board Block, -and also requesting permission to fall a road line. - . . From 0. Stev«ns, asking that the name of ,Steveas and Walker be altered to that of August and Frederick Miers for soetion 42 Block XIII Harbor Board Block. From A. &»uthey Baker, complaining of damage done to the property of Mr Watsoi* on seetioa 47 Harbor Board Block, by overflow of water, ami uskiugthat the Sam-) be re me .ied. From A. ff. Fiania, asking for permission to erect a fence on the road in frout of his sections Nos. 8 and 12 in the Harbor Board Bluck, and thus protect a live fence. From the Manchester Road Board, in reply to an application to give £ fur £ towards clearing and stumping the Yalli\y.road, stating that the road is now being felled, and that the B >ard it* not in a. position to do any more. From the Commissioner of Crown liiuuls, re «2ef erred payment thirds, IFeildiag Sjweial Settlement Block. Fr«tu tke Colonial Treasurer, re payment of £69 17s 7d for deferred j>aynient thirds, Waituna Block. From W. Brandt, for permission to fall 35 chains of the road line in front of his section No.' 20 in the Feilding Special Settlement Block. From Ml. Fittok.and W. Flynn, drawing attention to the state of the ford at the Kiwitea stream McKay's road. FwmW. Oldershaw, with, reference to the state of the upper part of McKay's road. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Brown, That permission be granted to Mr Finni* to erect a fence according to section 24 of the Fencing Act, 1881.— .Oarried; Proposed by- Mr Williamson, seconded by Mr Brown, That .the matter of the siUeged damage to Mr Watson's property be left in the hands of the Engineer. — -Carried. Mr Ebieiu waited on the Board with reference 'diversion of the road to his, section, and offered to give the laud required if the Board would have the road made. ' Proposed by Mr Williamson,, seconded by Mr Taylor, That Mr Elheiu's offer to give land be accepted,, and us soon as the transfer was signed the road should be made. — Carried. ..''■ Resolved, That Mr Durling- be alluwed to fall the bush on the road line on the Board's usual terms, and that the matter of the side citting referred to, be left in the hands of the Engineer to deal with. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Bruce, That the Secretary give Mr Saxon seven, days notice to clear the fallen trees from his section, or the Board would clear them at his expense. — Carried- : •„ . ■ Proposed by Mr Williamson, seconded by Mr, Taylor; That the Engineer prepare plans and specifications for a bridge across the Kiwitea stream, and for the completion of McKay's road to the boundary of tbe Block. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Williamson, That a special meeting, for the purpose of adopting the Local Bodies Loan Act, be held on Saturday, the 20th of November, at 2 p.m.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Brown, seconded hr Mr Bruce, That a sum of £50 be expended in forming and metalling the Taonui road in the Harbor Board Block from the top of cutting, and that the Engineer call tenders for the same. — Carried. Accounts amounting to £68 0s 2d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
