The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1886. A Bridge at Aorangi
»_ By a telegram from "Wellington wo learn that December Ist will be the date for receiving applications forloans from local bodies, under the Acts of last session. As that practically limits to six weeks the time at the disposal of those who are interesting themselves in getting a loan to defray the cost of building a bridge over,,' the Oroua river at Aorangi, we trust no delay will fee permitted in initiating all the necessary preliminary steps, and having a poll taken of the ratepayers, whose duty it will be to sanction the expenditure. On Thursday next we have no doubt the Borough Council will do their part by consenting to assist in this most important movement. After that body has sanctioned the work, very little time need be allowed to elapse before the proper legal formalities are completed. We are pleased to notice that since the subject was mooted we have not heard a single dissentient voice raised against it, while a consensus of public opinion is decidedly in its favor.
