A man named James McLauchhn, of Queenstown, died on Saturday from an overdose of ehlorodyne. Hs son 11 years of age died an hour betore in . tke hospital of rheumatic fever, and bis "wife is at present in the hospital with a broken leg. ■ Welmngton, October 11 At the Supreme Court to-day, diaries Hodgson was charged with embezzling sums of £33 4s and £30 4s, belonging to the Union Bank. .The jury returned. a verdict of not guilty. This Pay. Hodgson was put an his trinl this morning on the second charge of embezzling £'59. All < f yesterday's jury called, were challenged by the Crowu except one who had taken his seat unnoticed. .The Judge would . not then allow him to be challenged. The Crown prosecutor ex plained his action on the ground that an entirely new jury ought to hear the case.
