A BRIDGE AT AORARGEL

TO THE EDITOR OF THI- STAR. g ra> _l am very glad to see by the Star that people are beginning^ to * bestir themselves in the matter of a ■bridge at Aorangi across the Oroua. j For my part, I think the plan sketched I by Mr Macarthur, M.H.R., can 'be * carried out, - and the burgesses of Feilding enjoy all the advantages of the bridge for £50 per annum. We should start at once and get the prefcjiminaries arranged, so-as not to lose more time than can be helped, 1 think there can " be no doubt business people here would benefit by the bridge, and if that is a, fact, what benefits tWf must, mere or less, benefit the Borough as a whole, ±&en thereis another side of the question, to look at— the convenience, more especially in the winter months. It is not at all a pleasant thing if you want to go anywhere :down_ the line to have to ford the river if it is at all high, and the ford uncertain. In fact, the advantages to my mind are so many, aad our portion of the expenses so small in comparison, that I shall be surprised to hear a single word against the scheme. Hoping that Mr Macarthur, and the others who have taken the matter in hand, will not let it drop until a holiday is proclaimed to allow us to all go to the opening ceremony. - lam&., Wse
