Tragedy at Pelorus Valley
[pee united press association.] Blenheim, October 7. The Havelook correspendent of the Marlboroueh Times fowards the following particulars regarding the tragedy in the Pelorus Valley this morning : — Mr iVilsou started home from Havelock about 8 o'clock last night, arriving at his house about 4.30 this I morning. Mrs Wilson being anxious, had gone along the road to meet him. He passed her on the way, and soon after his arrival told one of his sons to go after his mother. He called out good bye to his children, who were in bed, and went to the kitchen, where he shot himself. Death, must have beon instantaneous. The charge entered his forehead, shattered the skull, and blew the brains all about the room. Deceased was a much respected settler, and a member _of the Pelorus Road Board. No. cause is assigned for the deed. ThisJ)ay. At the inquest on Daniel Wilson, who shot himself in the forehead at Pelorous Valley, a verdict of temporary insanity was returned.
