The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1886. The Bridge at Aorangi

We are much gratified to witness the energy with which the project for the erection of a bridge over the Oroua river at Aorangi is being pushed forward. Yesterday a deputation waited on the Manawatu Road Board at Palmerston, and were accorded a hearing. After consideration the Board decided to transfer 4,000 acres to the Manchester Road Board, the rates from which will be more than sufficient to cover a quota of the interest on the necessary loan. The only other local body yet to be consulted is the Borough Council, and we understand a deputation will wait on them for that purpose at the meeting next Thursday evening. As the whole of the Councillors are thoroughly alive to the immense benefits to be derived by the residents of Feilding, as well as those on the far side of the river, we anticipate the deputation will meet a cordial reception, and their views be accorded the consideration they deserve.
