Burial of Mr A. R. Curtis's Son

The funeral of the late eldest son of Mr A. R. Curtis took place on Sunday? afternoon. The procession formed in Hobson street, apposite the residence of Mr Curtis, at about half past two o'clock, and proceeded from thence to St. John's Church, where the Rer. Joshua Jones read the beautiful and impressive burial service of the Church of England. The choir sang the 399 th hymn, at the conclusion of which the cortege again formed outside the churcb and proceeded to the cemetery^ The attendance was very* large, and representative of all sec-, tions of the community, while great numbers of persons assembled in the Church to witness the melancholy proceedings. There were about 20 vehicles, including brakes, buggies, &c, and upwards of 50 horsemen. The threatening nature of the weather prevented friends and relations in. Palmerston attending. Arriving at the Cemetery, the Rev. Joshua Jones read the concluding part of the burial service, after which the assemblage separated and departed. The grave was literally covered with the flower* and wreaths which had been forwarded by friends of the family. A number of friends sent apologies for their non-attendance, accompanied with expressions of the sineerest regret and sympathy with the parents in their sad bereavemeofc. Wreaths, floral crosses, and immortelles were sent by Mesdames Crichton, Bray, Nicholas/ Beattie, Bilderbeck, and Mademoiselles Aitken, Goodbehere, Nicholas,. Rutherford, Beattie, Bray, Rees, Watts, and others, whose names we have been unable to ascertain.
