Feilding State School
An examination of the above was held by the Inspector on last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and resulted as follows : — Pkesented. Passed. Standard I 55 41 Standard II 47 29 Standard 111 21 14 | Standard IV 83 13 Standard V 12 7 Standard VI 3 3 Standa/d VII 1 102 below Std. I Total 274 107 Percentage of passes, 71 -8. This is a creditable advance over last year which only showed 63.8. We congratulate the Head Teacher, Mr Dowlikg, and his assistants, on this result which is most conclusive evidence of
the strenuous and successful efforts | they have made to brinjr the scholars : up to a state of efficiency which will compare favorably with any school in the district. Wo are confident that they will not rest satisfied with this, | but will strive hard to exceed it year by year. We also congratulate the parents of the children. An increased percentage of passes means that heads of families have done their share of of the work by compelling their children to attend school. That there is great room for improvement in this direction we know, and too often those parents who are the most indifferent as to whether their children attend or [ not, are those who complain the most whem their children are sent back for having failed to passed in the standards for which they were sent up. The teachers can do a great deal we know and admit, but their labors and care are rendered practically valueless if the parents do not render loyal assistance to them in the matter of attendance.
