T&e last match of the season wa« played on the Recreation Ground on Saturday between a team from Oroua Count/ and • repreaeatittira team of the Town Club. Id the first match with, the Orouas, whom our representatives met at Palmerston on the 17th July, the match ended in a draw, neither side scoring. The return match had beea looked forward to with a good deal of interest by our footballers, and a stiff game anticipated — an anticipation which proved correct, as Wanganui only won by two points (one try) to ml. Beth teams had tome of their best men away. Templer, Jackson, and Gregson of the visiting team being conspicuous by their absence, while Wanganui suffered similarly. The umpires ware Mr Marshall for Wanganui, end Mr Smith for Oroua, while M.r McSvea acted as referee. Oroua won the toss and selected to play with the wind. The ball was set in motion fey Gray kicking it well down the field, the Oroua full-back returning it as quickly.
