The Home Elections

(BEUTEB'S TELEGBAMB.) London, July 7. Conservatives have been elected to the following seats held in the last Parjtfainent by^ Liberals : — Newport, Shropshire, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Frome, Somersetshire; and the foi, lowing divisions of South-east Lancashire, viz., .* Hey wood, Middleton, Radcliff, Stratford, .Prestwiok, and Gorton. For the remaining divisions of South-east Lancashire, Eccles, and West Houghton, Conservatives have been re-elected. The Gladstonites' secured the seats for Elgin and Montgomery, andj the Conservatives the ; seats for the following divisions : — North Lancashire, North Lonsdale, Lancaster, and Chorley. Sir William Crossman has been reelected for Portsmouth, the other seat being secured by Sir Samuel Wilson. Waddy, who unsuccessfully contested North Islington at the last general elections, was returned for Brigg, Lincolnshire, in plaoe of Sir H. M. Thompson. July 8. The latest list of completed elections shows 240 Conservatives, 47 Unionists, 121 Gladstoneites, and 55 Parnellites were returned. The Liberal candidates for Westham (Essex), Accrington and Southport (Lancashire), have been defeated, while a supporter of Gladstone was returned for Cearmarthen. London, July B. The whole of the elections for English boroughs are now completed. The list shows 144 Conservatives, 22 Unionists, 60 Gladstoneites returned, of which 49 Conservatives, 2 Unionists, 1 1 Gladstoneites have been elected for Metropolitan constituencies. . Received July 10, 1 16 a.m. London, July 9. ■* The state of parties, according to latest, returns, is — 250 Conservatives, 50 Unionists, 131 Gladstonites and 65 Parnellites. Supporters of Mr Glad- j stone were returned for Dumfries and East Fifeshire. Mr CampbeU-Ban-nerman, Secretary for War, has been re-eleoted for Stirling. John Pender has been defeated for the Wick district.
