The Recall of the Miranda
I It wiß be noticed from our cable news that H.M.S. Miranda, now searing on this station, is recalled, for the purpose of being dismantled. Woiild it not be worth while to ask the imperial Government to make her a present to this colony? Vessels have been given to New South Wales and Victoria, and such a vessel as the Miranda might, we think, he majde pf * great use "tb "New-^Zealapd as a training ship for youth'si ,fcndv au exercise ■ res el for the Naval Volunteers. She wmid also 1 ©of cone service'ior the purposes of coastal defence: If the request were made promptly,' with the sanction of ParHament, iti&;inorethan probable that the Imperial -Government would grant it, and hand, over the Miranda to the colony in preference to taking her Home to be 'dismantled and, perhaps, broken up.-^Post.
