Feilding Borough Council
The ordinary meeting was held on Thursday evening last. Present — F. Y. Lethbridge (Mayor), Cr Thompson, Richardson, P. Thomson, Bishop, Foster, and Eade. The minutes of the previous meeting were read confirmed. ; The foUowing correspondence was read: — '.."''". From W. Light, calling -attention to the condition of the approaches l to his property, ahd off erring to pay his share of the expense. ; y« From H. Rink calling attention to 1 road along the railway ling. "£' From Lucas, Lyne, vajnd others, calling attention to the state of the North road. - JA _ .
T^e Public Works Committee report was read, and accounts . for £159 lis lOd passed for payment, The report of the Finance Commit-, tee was read and accounts for £94 passed for payment. Mr Light's application was then considered. - .
The Engineer was instructed to make the necessary arrangements" with Mr Light as to the proportion of the 'expense to be borne by by him. ; Cr Richardson supported the application of Mr Rink. ,
Cr Thompson also spoke in favor of it, but before he proposed any resolution he would like to know how the balance uf Loan fund stood, as he would take it out of it.,; Cr Fowles was astonished at Cr Thompson asking such a question, ho ought to know that ..there was no money available for new works not scheduled. , i y y, Cr Thompson said he thought. there was a balance. • .. s? Cr Thompson said there was a good deal of talking going on at the table and it ought to be stopped. - , >c The Mayor replied that as there was no business before them "no harm was done." y Some desultory conversation took place on Mr Rink's application. ; Proposed by Cr Thompson, seconded by Cr Richardson, That the Jtogiijuter report on the expense of t^ work asked to be done by Messrs HUtfener and Rink.— Carried. y^y** '
Cr Fowles said that the result of- the deliberation- of the Library Committee was that the application of th^, librarian for an increase should be allowed.
Proposed by Cr Fowles, seconded by Cr Worsfold,, That the librarian be paid 12s 6d a week.— Carried. ? Some discussion took place on a claim sent in for certain survey- expenses incurred in cennection with-the purchase of Dr Johnston's land. ,?The matter was held over. Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded" by Cr Richardsou, That that this be an instruction to the Engineer to replace the kerbing removed by. the contractors in Manchester street.rrCarried.
