The Australian Cricketers
[EEUTEb's TELKGBAMB.I ' Loxdon, July 5. The cricket match, Australians v. England, was commenced to-day at .Manchester. The attendance was enormous. The Australians went first to the wickets, and at 4 p.m. had put together 134 with three wickets down. After the third wicket their play was n«t so successful, and the remaining seven wickets were taken .for 71, tho innings closing for a total of 205 runs. Jones contributed the splendid score of 87. After an interval the Englishmen went to the. wickets, and when .the stumps were drawn had scored' 36 for the loss of one wicket. j
July 6. The cricket match was resumed ait Manchester to-day. The Home team with one wicket down and 36 runs up, continued their first innings, which closed for 223 runs, 18 ahead of the Australians. The. latter went in for the second time, and when the stumps were drawn for the-day the score stood at 55 with four wickets down.
