Groat interest was centred to-day in in the steamer Triumph, en route for [Kimberley, which arrived. from Lyttelton yesterday, having on board 150 Erssengers and 130 horses", all of the itter being in good condition. The Triumph yraa joined by another 97 passengers hero, twenty of whom belong to Wellington, and the rest to Auckland, Napier, Nelson, Marlborough, and the country districts, and they shipped 40 horses. The Triumph takes in all 247 passengers' and 170 horsei. The scene at the wharf during the forenoon was an unusually busy one. At 3 p.m/' the steamer left the wharf andproceeded to the anchorage, when the Custom's authorities and the ship's agent made an examination of the passengers, the former with the view of ascertaining whether the vessel was overcrowded, and the latter to see fLr that there were no stowaways on * hoard. About 3000 persons were on V the wharf, and cheers were exchanged as the steamer moved away. ' A Auckland, July 3. In reply to inquiries, Mr Alien, shipping agent, has received the following cablegram from the Acting-Colonial Secretary of Western Australia:— "Perth, 29th June.— lt is said 7 that' sufficient water for goldwashing will not be available on Kimberley diggings until October, or even later. There seems no other consideration which need delay miners with means who bring stores and equipments, including horses."
