Wanganui Education Board
The usual monthly meeting of the above board was held yesterday, when there were present— Messrs Watt (chairman), Sanson, Biidge, Carson, Fry; Ross, Stevens, Baker, and Bates. Appointments Committee. — From J. H. Stewart, *>f Bunnythorpe, applying for transfer te South Makirikiri Resolved to forward application to committee. From Mr Honore, headmaster at Halcombe, resigning. Resignation accepted, suitable application to be forwarded to the executive committed. From Karere'Commrttee, re a male pupil teacher. Rosolved to advertise in the . Palmerston papers 1 a male teacher. Resolved to offer prospective vacancy at Bunnythorpe to Mr Espiner. Tenders.— The board then went into committee to open tenders, and on resuming reported that the tender for Mangaone be referred to the building committee, with power to act t^fter consultation with the. arehiteot.^ Palmerston North.— A leng^y protest was read from a number of Palmerston residents against the late election, for the second time, of a school committee for this year on the ground of certain alleged irregularities, and praying that an inquiry be made int» the charges. Mr Bate moved, and Mr Fry seconded, That the election be sustained. This was earned. Mangaone.— Letter from Mangaone re school fenee. Referred to chairman of Mangaone committee. ]"">..[ <■ Stariway. — Letter from Stanway committee asking if the board would allow the teacher to undertake the delivery of letters.— Resolved, That it cannot be allowed during school hours.
