Lord Shaftesbury's Suiuide
"lam no good to anybody. I cannot live any longer. Forgive inc." Such was the last recorded utterance of the sou of the great Lord Shaftesbury, who did good to everybody, and went down to the grave in a ripe old age surrounded by the blessings of millions to whom he had been a blessing. The pathos of the poor suicide's confession stands out in startling contrast to the' splendor of his father's services to the world. There are many men, and perhaps even more women, who to-day feel bitterly that they are no good to anybody; but then their _ense< of uselessness is not "deepened by the burden of bearing the name of oiie. of the most useful men who ever lived.
