A.B was anticipated, the Government will reinstate the Hinemoa vote on the Supplementary Estimates. This vessel has proved vVry' - useful in trading to Chatham Islands and in the conveyance of railway material, etc., from one part of the Colony to another. The Minister of Works is providing statistics to ■ show that the Hinemoa thoroughly pays her cost of maintenance.
Tlie cost of collecting Customs. duties in New Zealand for the past year was lowest at Wellington, £1 18»8d per cont.. next lowest at Paiea. £2 Os 4d per cent., Auckland coming next with £2 2s Id. The highest was £"9 5s 3d per cent, at Hokiauga. The average for the whole Colony was £2 10s.
