The Kimberley Goldfields

. _ r :• "'.•''"^•3ilLßoUßKl,'Jun» "4. Messrs Moore, "Mortisoii, arid Headley have arrived at Sydney with 280ozs partly from Brockmas Greek, and partly from the head .waters of the Mary River, a tributary/of the Margaret, much nearer Derbythan former finds. They will return in afew days to prospect Leopold Ranges further north. They are not satisfied that the quantities of gold they have found in the localities mentioned would support a rush. All those who have arrived at Yeoda station have been fairly successful. Several of the party were sick while at the diggings, while others were occupied in looking after horses, and they could only average two men at actual work. Two men, McKenzie and O'Donoghue, left the field at the end of Feb. } ruary, and have not since been heard of. It is supposed they have been murdered by the natives. Flour at Derby is £20 per ton, horses £25 each, and very scarce. Medical men are much wanted. The Thursday's Argus says that the Adelaide Steamship Company's steamier Albury, 1,000 tons, left on Wednesday for Derby, King Sound, with a ! large number of passengers, for Kimberley Goldfields. She will call at Adelaide,, where a number of additional passengers ' will embark. She took a large quantity of cargo, and about 50 passengers, most of whom were booked for Western Australia, and appeared to be well equipped. The cargo comprised a large quantity of building material, provisions, and ■ tools for th> new settlements at Kir- ' berley and its ports.
