Information has been received from the Wairau this afternoon that as a survey party were coming in 'from the back country of the Upper Clarence they were caught in a severe snow storm. the party, namely, Messrs Paske (rade^ and Hugh Thompson (chainuian) died from exposure. Mr F. Smith, tbe dis I trict surveyor, and four hands were resetted by a rescue party trom Mr MeArthnT'e St. James' station.
